Getting Some Work Done

The two-bed I'm working on has a large upstairs bedroom with 1/2 bath and closets.  Over time, the banister and upper railing have taken a bit of a beating as folks move stuff up and down the stairs.  You can see some wear at the bottom and that there are not a lot of balusters...

It just seemed like time to update those and put in a more secure railing overall...here you can see the change in the design of the banister itself...

As well as a very secure railing above...

I am now staining the new railings to match and as soon as the finish dries, we'll be ready to show the house. In these temperatures, that may be as soon as tomorrow evening, will post here first.

Follow up on Open House

Thank you to everyone for your interest in the 28th Street property.  We are currently processing applications from the Open House so will not be showing the house further at this time.  If that changes, will let you know here first!

Open Sunday - May 22, 2-5 pm

This is a nice two bed, one and a half bath property which is available now.  It has a sweet kitchen with lots of cabinet space and a dishwasher as well as a really large laundry/utility room with washer dryer hookups and room to spare.

On the hunt...

With everything fixed up and full up, on the hunt for the next house.  Looked at 9 properties on Friday, nothing just real exciting yet but will keep looking.  It sure is a beautiful time of year to get to drive around though, everyone's gardens are just gorgeous.

I still expect to have a property available in mid-May, keep watching here for the details.

Facelift for a House

I had previously mentioned that we had a 2/1 that we were modifying the porch on.  The existing porch wall had some structural damage and there was an opportunity to open up the front step, both to improve the aesthetics and to make room for sitting on the porch to watch the world go by.  Here is the final result...

In the beginning, the front of the house was worn and a bit droopy looking...

We cleaned up the shrubbery in front, removed the lower wall, put in a permanent front step and updated the shutters...

The difference in the porch area is quite amazing and well worth the effort. Now I can picture myself sitting out front, having a cup of coffee and watching the world go by.
